Its lack of a bustling downtown area and vibrant nightlife is the very reason why residents enjoy living in Ocean Ridge. After all, they can always travel to nearby Delray Beach for shopping and entertainment.

Ocean Ridge Natural Area

Ocean Ridge is a Fort Lauderdale suburb renowned for its tiny, insular community. Empty nesters, young professionals, and retirees love living here because of its urban, suburban mix and local parks. It's a quiet, reserved area without a lot of businesses or commercialization.  Most residents are attracted to the area’s easygoing, relaxed lifestyle. While there aren't many restaurants or shops, there is plenty to do outdoors—especially if you like boating, fishing, or jet skiing.

Since Ocean Ridge is such an isolated place to live, most residents travel to nearby Delray Beach for entertainment, nightlife, shopping, or restaurants. The following are some local favorites in Delray Beach.  For authentic Italian food, visit Le Sorelle. Their restaurants offer brick oven pizza, homemade pasta, seafood, and steak—all in a romantic, friendly atmosphere.  If you prefer Mexican cuisine, you'll want to try El Camino. They specialize in using the best, freshest, most organic ingredients whenever possible. They even make their tortillas and sauces from scratch! Pair their delicious dishes with one of their decadent cocktails, agave spirits, Mexican craft beers, or housemade sangria.  For shopping, locals love Snappy Turtle, a preppy clothing store for both men and women. Family-owned Nomad Surf Shop has been serving the South Florida surfing community since 1968. Not only do they build custom boards, but they also devote themselves to keeping up with all of the latest trends in beach fashion.

On Saturday mornings, visit the GreenMarket in Delray Beach, an open-air marketplace in Old School Square Park with countless vendors selling fresh produce.  During Savor the Avenue, restaurants offer special four-course dinners for visitors to enjoy beneath the starry sky along Atlantic Avenue. Film buffs will want to attend the Downtown Boca Film Festival (formerly known as the Delray Beach Film Festival).  Ocean Ridge is also famous for its many gorgeous parks. Ocean Ridge Hammock Park is a lovely, tranquil stretch of sand along the Palm Beach shoreline. Boaters and jet skiers will love Ocean Inlet Park, located along the Intracoastal Waterway. The inlet offers 24-hour access to the jetty and marina.  The Ocean Ridge Natural Area is a recreational spot with a boardwalk that will take you through a mangrove-filled estuary filled with birds, fish, and other wildlife. You can climb the 20-foot outlook tower to get a scenic view of the waterway and a small lagoon. There is also docking space for boats and jet skis.  Located south of Boynton is the pristine Gulfstream Beach Park, which features shallow reefs for beginner snorkelers, a playground, picnic areas, restrooms, and lifeguards on duty.
